Evie Tote Bag Class

I just love teaching my purse designs to eager students in the quilt stores.  We all have a fun time and I always learn some new shorcut and my students learn new shortcuts from me. I will be teaching the Evie Tote at the Quilt Cupboard in Garden Grove, CA on April 24, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. for more info go to: http://www.thequiltcupboard.net/events/get/283/ As the date gets closer I will post again.

Cushy iPad Cover

I've been carrying around my iPad with no case since I bought it a few months ago. It was really starting to bother me that I was always slipping it into my purse and other places unprotected. It was scarrying me that I might get it scratched or worse, having it slip out of my hand and onto the ground or tile floor. Ouch! Sometimes I think Apple purposely makes their products so they can easily slip out of your hands, break and replace. Sorry, getting back to the subject...I had gone to a number of stores looking for cases but I couldn't find exactly what I wanted. Either I liked the style of the case but the color was too weird for me or I liked the color but I didn't like the style. So, I decided to make my own case for now until I find the ultimate case with a dream price of $10.

Visiting the California Gift Show

Loved all the different shapes, sizes and colors of these beads. They make wonderful accessories to hang from your tote.

Last week I attended the California Gift Show at the Los Angeles Convention Center to hopefully, become inspired and get a few ideas for some new bags. I saw some new gift items but, unfortunately, this show, like many other shows I've gone to lately and that goes for fabric, quilt, accessories, etc. was the smallest I've seen it in the past years. Although I did come away with some good ideas I was hoping for more "out of the box" color combos and styles.

Here's a small glimpse of inspirations that I viewed at the show. Perhaps you can become inspired also!

Road to California Quilt Show 2013

Just got back from the Road to California Quilt Show in Ontario, California. This show was HUGE! It not only took up the grand space of the convention center but also a very grand ballroom accross the hall. The quilts displayed were beautiful as usual, very traditional, meaning the quilters took a quilt pattern, tweaked it to suit their own individual style and you have a beautiful quilt. Then you have the quilt artists. Those quilters who really think outside the box with a vision that is beyond comprehension in making a quilt. A true work of art. Don't get me wrong, the other quilts are also works of art, in fact all quilts are works of art but there are some that just take your breath away. I wish I had some pictures, but they were very strict on the picture taking, not sure why. This picture was the only one I took inside the convention hall.

Going to the Road to California 2013

I will be going to the Road to California Show tomorrow. Hope to see many new quilts and fabrics and get lots of ideas! Hopefully I will be able to get some great pictures, if they let me, wink wink.

Chevron Bizou Bag Pattern

I have been holding onto this cute gray chevron print for a very long time not sure what I wanted to do with it. I loved the print and I just had to use it, but on what?

I finally organized my studio closet!

Well, I decided, since it is the New Year I am going to get organized, FINALLY! And with that decision set in my mind I would start with my studio closet. I found it so nerve racking every time I went to look for something I could never find the item I was looking for even when I thought I KNEW it was in the spot I had left it in, it was not there. Grrrrr. And I would end up tearing all my stuff out and STILL could not find it. Well, this was the last, and I mean the last time I was going to drive myself crazy with this mess.
